cross post from my livejournal

Well, TJ's home from the hospital finally. First they told him last week Saturday, then Tuesday, and then he wasn't supposed to be back until this coming Tuesday - but he's home! I guess I didn't really think about posting the details of why he was there...

He was having a video EEG done, they were video taping and monitoring his brian waves during his seizures. He's had them since he was about 4, and we are hoping that they can do surgery so he won't have them anymore - but they have to know where exactly the seizures are coming from in his brain before they can do surgery, so that's that.

He was admitted 4/6/04 and just came home today. He was so excited. I'll have pictures to post later from when he was there (with the wires and the cord he was hooked up to, etc.) He had a 20 ft cord that kept him in bed and he couldn't get up and move around without someone with him. So for him to be able to walk out of the hospital was a big deal to him and he was just taking EVERYTHING in on the way home. The weather was beautiful and he commented on how so many things changed in the 11 days that he was there - - "the trees have leaves, the grass is green, the weather is WARM, the windows are OPEN, etc"

Anyway - - this may sound bonkers, but him and I were talking on the phone last night and he said that the doctors were kicking him out Tuesday whether he had another seizure (he had only had 1 that they could read) or not. I said a lil prayer in my head, "I just pray that he has a couple tonight so he can come home sooner and this testing/time is worth while."

He called this morning at 9:00 and sure enough, he had 2 that night and came home today (4/17) **technically yesterday**

He called me tonight at work to tell me how comfortable he was in his own bed, it was nice and cool in the bedroom, and he was ready for a good night's sleep for a change.

I'm so happy to have him home again and I feel so much more calm, not so stressed. I think him being gone for so long has had and will have a good and lasting effect on our relationship. It really made us both think and realize a lot of things we took foregranted before.

Anyway - back to work I go. Our registration system goes down from 1 a.m. to 4 a.m - - yay.
